Game #11

June 16, 2019

KENAI, AK – The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks (4-7) fell just short of the win against the Peninsula Oilers (5-6) in a 3-2 game on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler O’Clair (1-2) picked up the loss in the contest after pitching six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, a walk, and five strikeouts. Brian Cardone (0-0) would come in relief for the final two innings and give up only one hit in his scoreless outing.

Offensively, the Chinooks would score their two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Haden Keller led the inning off with a walk before Ethan English plated both runs on his first homerun of the season to make it a 3-2 game. The Chinooks would get the tying run on second base in the top of the ninth inning, but could not get him in to tie the game.

Quick Facts:

  • Ethan English hit his first homerun of the season.
  • English finished with six hits, seven runs, three doubles, and a homerun against the Oilers in the series at Kenai.
  • Mason Corbett and Jess Davis have reached in every game this season.

The Chinooks will play next against the Anchorage Bucs on Monday night at 7:00 in Anchorage.
