After falling behind 2-0 through four innings, the Chinooks broke through in the sixth when Tate Greene launched a two-run home run to left field, tying the game at 2-2. Greene finished the night 2-for-5 with a home run, double and three RBIs.
The Chinooks grabbed the lead in the eighth as Phoenix West lined an RBI double to right field, scoring Reese Vassar to take a 3-2 lead. Anchorage answered in the bottom half to even the score at 3-3, setting up a dramatic ninth inning.
In the top of the ninth, Samuel Hess came around to score on Greene's RBI double, which was followed by an RBI single from Austin Young to give the Chinooks insurance and a 5-3 lead. The Bucs pushed across one run in the bottom of the ninth, but Evan Rossi closed the door to earn the win.
The Chinooks collected 15 hits on the night, led by Young, who went 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI. Hess also had three hits and scored twice, while West and Drew Hurst each added two hits. The chinooks broke the 15 hit mark for the 3rd time this year.
On the mound, starter Oliver Adams struck out five over four innings before Qade Carrington delivered three scoreless innings of relief. Rossi earned the win after recording the final three outs despite a late Bucs rally.
That is back to back wins against the Bucs for the Chinooks, they come back to Lee Jordan for a 5 game homestand over the next 7 days. They currently sit a half game back of first with a big 2 game set against the Oilers coming up.
