Oilers win game 2 of Scout Showcase over Nooks
The good news is that the four pitchers(Troy Lopez, Brayden Adams, Louis Zulaica and Gavin Alveti) used for the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks only allowed 1 run over 7 innnings. The bad news was that the Peninsula Oilers pitchers were just a little bit better. On a beatiful day made for baseball at Anchorage's Mulcahy Stadium, the Nooks fell to the Oilers 1-0 on day 2 of the Exhibition Scout Showcase weekend. The only run scored was in the top of the 5th inning when designated hitter Andres Mitat drew a base on balls, as did eight hitter, catcher Brock Worthgen. With two on and no outs, nine hitter, left fielder Bryce Burkey hit a slow ground ball to Chinook second baseman Peyton Niemann who tagged the runner and in an attempt to complete the double-play threw wide of firstbasemen Jordan Jaffe and Mitat came around to score the only run of the game. It would prove to be enough to get the win. Oliver Degenhardt had two hits for the Fish, as did centerfielder Jayden Hill as the Nooks outhit the Kenai nine 6-4 for the game. Next up for the Chinooks is their final game in the Scout Showcase weekend at 12:00 pm on Sunday at Mulcahy in Anchorage.
