Pilots spoil Chinooks return to Lee Jordan Field
Tim Barto-Chinooks
Game 13 Summary
The Chinooks returned home to Lee Jordan Field on Thursday evening and found a large crowd greeting them. Righthander Brady Adams started on the hill against the visiting Anchorage Glacier Pilots and threw well, giving up only three runs through five innings. Fielding miscues allowed two of those runs in the third inning, giving the Pilots a three to two lead, which lasted until the seventh inning when – again – defensive mistakes surrendered three runs.
Offensively, the Chinooks collected nine hits but left seven men on base. Jordan Jaffe went three for four with a run scored, while catcher Dustin Isanogle, a Junior out of Messiah College, went two for four with a run batted in. Sam Kwapnioski, a Sophomore from North Iowa Area Community College, executed a perfect bunt with two runners on in the second inning, finding himself safe at first and loading the bases, leading to two Chinook runs.
Final score: Pilots 6, Chinooks 2.
The Chinooks' record falls to five wins and eight losses in league play. Their next game is Saturday at home against the very same Glacier Pilots. First pitch is at 4:00 pm.
