Game 16 Summary
Coming into Tuesday night's home game against the Mat-Su Miners, the Chinooks were in a rut. The Fish managed to score only three runs in four games, being shutout the last two games, and having the last game called on a ten-run rule after seven innings. After the Miners scored four runs in the top of the first inning, it looked as though the woes would continue, but this is the way the Chinooks' first offensive inning went down:
Kade Smith walked,Louis Zulaica singled,Jordan Jaffe singled,Jayden Hill singled,RJ Rickabaugh singled,Oliver Degenhardt singled,David Broughton walked,Brady Groves flew out,Oliver Medeiros hit a sacrifice fly,Kade Smith flew out,Six runs scored.
The offensive assault continued in the second with Chugiak-Eagle River scoring three more runs on three hits, a hit batsman, and a sacrifice. They added one run in the third, and their eleventh run of the game in the fourth. The team slump was not only broken, it was shattered. Zulaica, Jaffe, Rickabaugh, and Degenhardt had two hits each. Jayden Hill had a base hit and twice reached first after being hit with a pitch. Broughton drew a walk, hit a sacrifice fly, and was hit by a pitch. Medeiros hit a sacrifice fly and singled.
Nolan Livsey settled down nicely after the first inning, notching his third win of the season. Adyn Collins, who was throwing a spectacular curveball, finished the game in relief.
Final score: Miners 7, Chinooks 11.
